Chapter 3- Suspicions
Marcus nodded his head. “Yeah, something didn’t seem quite right with her. Like the way she seemed nervous when we asked about other cabins.” “Or when she said that her brother was in the police force. As far as I know, there’s no officer with the last name Goode in the force.” “Exactly!” exclaimed Alex. “Why do you think she lied?” he asked. “I’m not entirely sure.” replied Marcus. He sighed.”We’ll talk later. I just need to finish a report on the case I’m working on.” Alex frowned. “You promised you wouldn’t work on holiday!” “I know, I just want to finish it off.” He opened his laptop. “The disappearance of 19-year-old genius Evan Smith. We think that there may be connections to criminal mastermind Alan Goodall.” “Wait, isn’t that the guy who shot you in the hip when you tried to arrest him?” Marcus grimaced at the painful memory. “Yep. He’s been trying to do me in ever since” Alex’s eyes widened. “You don’t think….that this might be a trap?!” “We need more information.” said Marcus. “Tell Brian & Nicholas to keep their eyes peeled for anything suspicious. But for now, I suggest you get some rest. It’s been a long day.”
A/N: So, this chapter is a bit short, and its mainly just a bridge chapter. But don’t worry, the next chapter will be much more action- packed!:)
